Practical report: Digitization in SMEs - from PDM to PLM

PDM-supported development methods and ERP-based production processes are now established in many medium-sized companies. Design data is managed in the PDM system, while order-related information is stored in the ERP system.

However, with increasing internationalization, growing product diversity and an increasing proportion of software components, the requirements for seamless information availability are also increasing. In order to cope with this complexity, a consistent PLM concept is required that links all relevant areas with one another.

The example of MEILLER is used to show how a target image for a future-proof PLM system was developed and a concrete implementation plan drawn up - including the framework conditions that influenced the project.
