Focus on "self-service": presentations on the quality of data products and data governance
In addition to networking in the regional data scene, the agenda includes two exciting presentations that look at the topic of "self-service" from different perspectives.
Technical debt for self-service data solutions
Artur König, Managing Director of BI or DIE, will shed light on the challenges of self-service data solutions in his presentation.
In the context of self-service, data products are created that are not well thought out in all aspects, but are primarily geared towards the benefits for end users and rapid creation. This becomes a problem with repeated use, as maintenance and customization generally become more difficult the longer a data product is used.
The reason for this is "technical debt". These cannot be avoided in a dynamic environment. It is therefore necessary to develop strategies for dealing with them in order to control the resulting risks.
Data governance in self-service
Christian Schneider, CEO of Dataciders subsidiary QuinScape, takes a look at the reciprocal relationship between self-service business intelligence (BI) and data governance.
If you look at current trend monitors, self-service BI is becoming increasingly less important. Christian Schneider's presentation will highlight common mistakes in the introduction of self-service and show what an effective combination of self-service and data governance can look like. Training, support structures, lifecycles and accessibility will be considered as key aspects of an effective data governance strategy.
Networking with the data community
After the presentations, there will be an opportunity to network with the local data community in the Ruhr region from 7.15 pm. Over cold drinks and light snacks, participants can make contacts in a relaxed atmosphere and bring the evening to a close.
